Precious moments – Luke & Taeler’s wedding story
We were incredibly honoured to design the engagement ring and wedding band for Taeler Bree Jordan with the help of her husband, Luke Dale Axton. The two were married early last year at Jack's Point in Queenstown, New Zealand. We saw Taeler recently at Pieces of Eight gallery, where you can find my collections, and she kindly shared the story of her wedding with us.
Special thanks Taeler and Luke for letting us tell your story here!
“Why [were we married in] New Zealand you may ask. No we are not from New Zealand. I went on a family holiday [there] in June 2017. Luke couldn't attend because of work (or so he said),” says Taeler.
“He flew over to Queenstown, booked the best restaurant in town and surprised me. The biggest surprise was the proposal of course. He proposed with a simple white gold band and said, ‘I know you inside and out, so I know that you need to choose your own unique engagement ring’.”
“Ending up at Pieces of Eight gallery, I fell in love with your jewellery!”
For Taeler’s engagement ring, she selected our Four Claw Solitaire ring in an 18ct rose gold with 1.50ct Rubyvale parti sapphire. A few months later she contacted us for a wedding ring to match. We created a bespoke Trilliant Diamond 18ct rose gold wedder featuring a 0.29ct GH VS-SI1 trilliant cut diamond (see a similar diamond here).
To complement this, Luke chose a David Neale-designed Gold Band.
“Finally our wedding day,” regales Taeler. “I had fallen in love with your beautiful drop pearl earrings, but couldn't afford them after spending too much on my dress. Disappointed but trying to be practical I had to let them go.
“Little did I know, Luke went behind by back and 10 minutes before I walked down the aisle his best man, Bram, hand-delivered the earnings, to make the day perfection! We flew up into the clouds to have our amazing wedding photos taken by Jim Pollard.
“Melanie you have really made our wedding so special and I actually feel I have [a] personal connection with your beautiful work.”
What a wonderful story, and a beautiful wedding to boot. We’re inspired by Taeler and Luke’s wedding story and incredibly happy that we could contribute to making their day so memorable.
We'd love to hear about your wedding story, contact us to share your precious moments.
