ABOUT US
We’re seeking a creative and motivated professional to join us at Pieces of Eight and Melanie Katsalidis. A passion and knowledge of jewellery is essential in order to best communicate our brand values and work within our dedicated team. 15 years in, we have developed an iconic presence in Melbourne for independent contemporary and fine jewellery.

You are a hard worker, creative thinker, lover of jewellery and art. You are passionate about clear communication and are motivated by seeing your hard work translate into beneficial outcomes for our brands. You can work independently as well as within our team, are confident to solve problems and find solutions when the need arises. Being organised and working to a schedule is one of your strengths, as is time management and being flexible when needed. You bring your own energy to the role and your creativity is your biggest asset, communicating our brand and products in the best way possible, evaluating the communication and building loyal and engaged clientele/followers. You are key to our continued growth and visibility both locally, nationally and internationally.

NOTE
The role will require you to also work 1-2 days with our Pieces of Eight retail team as a Sales Assistant. This will need to be 1-2 Saturdays a month and 0-1 day during the week depending on roster requirements. This will give you a greater insight to the daily operations of the business as well as customer feedback, how our bespoke service is facilitated, sales trends and a more intimate understanding of the various artists and pieces.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Scheduling and Planning exhibitions & events – in conjunction with Gallery Director, Gallery Manager & Gallery Assistants:

  • Maintain and oversee the planning schedule which maps out events for the 12 months ahead and guides our content; manage tasks and plan for future events and product releases
  • Press, marketing and social media content creation and planning
  • Arrange printed collateral and event signage
  • Mailing list development (Mailchimp) – liaise with artists to obtain their lists, engage with previous clients and VIPs
  • EDM event development, send & reminder
  • VIP offerings and customised communications. Create copy and create / design / source / commission / edit associated imagery
  • Social content creation, copywriting and posting as per scheduling requirements
  • Update of both PO8 and MK websites (add exhibition stock, event pages, banners, etc. and refresh homepage imagery and links)
  • Execute applications for events, festivals, and grant opportunities
     

Website / Digital / Social Media

  • Photography – planning and booking studio shoots for website photography (flatlay), content (styles and on the body/model), printed collateral, etc - run photoshoots on the day
  • Take and edit photos in the gallery for use on social media, Instagram stories etc
  • Submit flatlay product images for re-touching in conjunction with our photographer and ensure quality is cohesive with other shoots
  • Monthly updates of website homepage sliders, thumbnails, bespoke images (adding new ones in; deleting old), and artist banner images as required
  • Oversee maintenance of website and regularly review product pages, deleting sold out stock and replacing with fresh products
  • Upload / update website products – weekly
  • Add or amend SEO descriptions as required
  • Review website statistics regularly and see where we can improve, or further promote popular products
  • Content creation in the form of digital photography – for use on our Journal, EDMs, Instagram and Facebook
  • Request imagery content from artists and/or stylists for use across social platforms
  • Work with our (external) digital marketing team to advise on images for social media promotional use and suggestions for trending products
  • Journal PO8: 1-2 posts per week. Source images / write copy / add tags / add links to associated pages
  • Journal MK: 1 post per month
  • Instagram PO8 & MK: daily posting plus boost posts every week. Use Iconosquare to schedule posts
  • Instagram: Create and post stories, respond to comments / DMs / enquiries / reviews (both MK and PO8 accounts). Add our videos to IGTV (new task to be completed during this maternity role)
  • EDM PO8: weekly send. Schedule ahead, develop content and send - as guided by the planning and content schedule spreadsheet
  • EDM MK: fortnightly send. Schedule ahead, develop content and send - as guided by the planning and content schedule spreadsheet
  • Facebook PO8 & MK: Post 3-5 times per week, plus boosted posts every fortnight
  • Regularly review EDM and social media analytics, statistics and performance; use this information to guide future content (both PO8 and MK accounts)
  • Pinterest: update once per week
